Two children, and never enough hours.

Between work, the school run, swimming, football, getting dinner on the table and keeping a little time for me and Ryan, our evenings had a way of disappearing. More nights than I’d admit, we drifted towards a screen because it was easy, and the bedtime story quietly slipped down the list.

Stories made up off the top of my head.

Isla has always loved a story. When we travelled and had forgotten a book, she’d ask me to invent one, usually about ducks and fairies. Some landed. Many, honestly, did not. I’d run out of ideas somewhere over a motorway, and she’d gently let me know it wasn’t my best work.

Never quite the right size.

As they grew, it got harder. Children’s books carry no real age rating, so I’d stand in the shop guessing whether something was too babyish, too long, or pitched just over their heads. What held Robin at six was a world away from what Isla wanted at eight.

A story made just for them, every night.

Built around their name, their age and the things they love. The right length for their attention, and ready on my phone wherever we are, even when the bedtime book has been left at home and the suitcase is packed for a weekend away. All for less than a coffee for me and a friend.
